This course has really challenged me to accept new concepts and for me to not give up when things get challenging…. I came in with an intention to learn back-end development and have struggled to grasp the front-end(CSS and I have conflict). However, I have embraced the challenge of figuring out how to become proficient in my styling and I feel the struggles have made me more effective (trial and erroring).

When frustration comes up how do you be with it? What’s your course of action?

Being proficient in CSS! There are so many ways to duplicate your styling intentions and I find myself going down the rabbit hole quite a bit. I have learned when to stop (once I get in too deep), decompress for an extended period, review prior course work, and start my process all over again.

Why should we teach to the whole person rather than to just a skill set? What benefits are there to this method?

It's great to have a solid foundation as you enter the full-stack web development world. I'm sure it's feasible, but I think it would be difficult to grasp the back-end without the front-end knowledge and same vice versa.

Its also great to learn both if you are an individual that is new to the field and are not quite sure where you want your focus to be (front, back, and full). Now that I have some time under my belt, I now know that I want to stay away from the front-end!

How do you feel about your upcoming project? What do you anticipate while working with a classmate?

Im excited to finally be able to collaborate with a peer! Through my journey, I have found it more helpful to talk about coursework in person and to hear the ideas from fellow coders.

I anticipate struggling through this assignment with another young coder but am excited to figure this out with someone who’s on the same level as me…. I get lost speaking with experienced coders.

What benefits will there be to working with someone else?

Please refer to the above answer!

What challenges could come with this partnership?

  1. One person carrying the load on the project
  2. Teammates not being on the same level
  3. Struggling through things and not being able to figure them out (above our capacity)
  4. The assignment blows up :(
