Checkpoint time.

How do you describe the feeling of imposter syndrome? When does it affect you the most? Why?

  • Imposter syndrome is when one experiences self-doubt in their accomplishments and feels as if they are undeserving of recognition and might be exposed as a fraud.

When does this affect me the most? and why? I think it's a natural reaction for someone to exhibit this when they are learning a new concept and don't want it to be evident they are not understanding. Coding is a great example of this for me because I am able to speak the language fairly well in my day-to-day work, but I'm still navigating how to grasp the logic behind the language structure and how functions are executed.

What have you learned about the tech world that you are happy to know?

Javascript! Its a pain to understand, but I love the design and logic behind it all, and its oddly satisfying when your random methods actually work!

Why is the way we talk to ourselves in our inner mind so important? What effect can it have on our well-being?

That voice in your head is the reasoning and logic behind your actions or decisions. This is also where you can be unfiltered and ask the questions that you wouldn't necessarily present to an audience… Your personal checks and balance system perse.

What about this course is challenging you the most? How do you think you are growing through it?

CSS for sure!

Styling a sheet is a fairly tedious process and there are SO many ways to accomplish the same thing, yet so easy to also not accomplish anything you are trying to achieve on a page. I catch myself going down rabbit holes quite a bit and repeating myself when styling sections. I had to teach myself to learn when to take the L and just restart once I start sinking down the hole.

How has podcast listening influenced the way you think?

I admittedly do not listen to any podcasts. :/

What has your spare time looked like in comparison to what it looked like a year ago?

Its about the same! The only difference is, I have added coding practice to my late-night work time so now Im just extending my time up before I go to sleep.
